Do you have a kid that is obsessed with guns? It seems that although I try not to have guns be apart of my kiddos lives, toy guns seem to get given to us as gifts… water guns, NERF guns, army men with guns… and they also seem to be my sons favorite gifts EVER! GAAAA!
Well, in search of a way to create a fun and safe way for him to learn and play with his new NERF gun collection, I came up with the idea to create a DIY Kids NERF Target Shooting Range. This way he can learn some gun safety, practice his aiming, while having fun playing target practice, instead of running around shooting his little sister all day!!
My version of a NERF Target Shooting Range is super easy to put together, and you can customize it by using whatever colored cups you like, or glue something else onto the board like… boxes, balloons, rocks… Lol, anything that you want to use as target practice really, but not your little sisters!!
HOW TO MAKE A NERF TARGET SHOOTING RANGE
MATERIALS NEEDED FOR SHOOTING RANGE:
- Large piece of Ply-wood
- Paint (Optional: if you want to paint the ply-wood)
- Plastic cups (found at Dollar Tree)
- Hot glue gun & Hot glue sticks
- Army men (found at Dollar Tree)
- Numbered Stickers (found at Dollar Tree)
METHOD TO MAKE SHOOTING RANGE:
Step 1: Paint your Ply-wood board and let it dry.
Step 2: Hot glue your plastic cups to the board. Like this…
Step 3: Use your number stickers to give the cups different scores. Like this…

Step 4: Place your army men inside each cup.
Step 5: Load your NERF gun and see how many army men you and knock down. Tally up the points! Have fun!!
For Corbin’s Birthday this year he had a Popsicle Obstacle Course Birthday Party and we used his Target Shooting Range as one of the Obstacles. All the kids had so much fun trying to shoot the Army men down! It’s actually pretty hard to shoot the army men, so joining the kiddos at your homemade Shooting Range would still be a bit challenging for the parents!
And the little sisters might learn a thing or two too! Watch out Corbin… She’s working on her aim!
Now you can make a NERF Target Shooting Range for your own home, to play target practice ALL, DAY, LONG… Enjoy!
Until next time, have fun with with the NERF loving kiddos in your life, and enjoy creating beautiful things everyday!
