Homemade Crispy Baked French Fries Recipe!

Homemade Crispy Baked French Fries Recipe! - oven fries

Are you a crispy fry lover? Do your fingers go for the little fried bits at the bottom of the fry basket?!?! Well mine do… because they are the best! (the fries… not my fingers… Although…). If I could order a whole side of the thin crispy fries, I SO WOULD! So I thought, how could I make these thin crispy fries at home, while making them a bit healthier (not fried, but instead baked)! And so was born my homemade crispy baked french fries recipe! And they are seasoned to perfection! They pretty much taste like a bag of Hickory Sticks, just bigger and better for you!! I’m sure your family will love them too!

Method to Make Homemade Crispy Baked French Fries

Step 1: Set your Mandoline Slicer to 4.5 mm height with your fry cutting insert in place. Now I know what you are thinking… But I don’t have a Mandoline Slicer!!! Don’t worry you can just cut your potatoes in to very thin fry like pieces, with a large kitchen knife. It will take longer, but still totally doable. However… I HIGHLY recommend getting a Mandoline Slicer. I use mine ALL the time!! I could probably find a way to use it to prepare something in every single one of our meals. I won’t go into that right now, but one of its amazing functions is cutting fries, in seconds! This is one kitchen accessory that I use the most!

Sorry my Mandoline Slicer is very used and the numbers are wearing off. but for reference I set the thickness of my homemade crispy baked french fries to the yellow dot! (wink)

Step 2: Soak your cut uncooked potato fries in a large bowl of cold water for about 30 minutes. This is key to making the fries extra crispy! Like this…

Step 3: While your uncooked potato fries are soaking, mix together your seasonings! Add all the spices in a bowl and mix together!

Step 4: After your Uncooked Potato fries are done soaking, pat dry with a kitchen towel and toss with Olive Oil and Spices.

Step 5: Place on a tin foil lined baking pan. Preferably your fries should be in a single layer, but if you don’t have enough space (like me) just make sure to keep flipping your fries around while they are cooking.

Step 6: Cook your homemade crispy baked french fries in your oven that was pre heated to 450 degrees for about 40 minutes! Make sure to flip them around frequently (every 7ish minutes)! If you don’t, they will stick together and burn to the pan. That would be sad! (wink)

Step 7: Serve with ketchup!! Our fav dipping sauce in this house! KIDS!!

Spices are an amazing way to add flavor to your foods while you are on a diet, and this spice bland is delicious! Pretty much tastes like hickory sticks although there is nothing hickory about them. I highly recommend trying these suckers out, if you want to impress your family and friends! And getting a Mandoline Slicer too!! • Awesome! Thanks Jen! Yes! A mandoline slicer is magic for making French fries super quickly, and they are evenly cut, you can make them any thickness you desire… like super thin to make delicious crispy French fries! Enjoy!

    • You have to try it! So much healthier than deep fried! Everyone loves them! I can’t wait for you to try them! Thanks so much for the comment Arielle!

    • Yay! Thanks Christine! That’s Awesome! I’m so glad they loved them. I’m not surprised though. They are addictingly delicious!! Thanks for letting me know that paprika worked for you guys. I’ll have to try using it sometime. ❤️❤️

  • These sound so good! May have to get over my fear of a mandoline slicer though. Currently my little one gets sweet potato coins instead of fries, much easier to cut 🙂

    • Thanks Alyssa! Lol. I totally get it. I was intimidated too at first but once you see and experience the convenience and all the cool things you can make you won’t know how you ever cooked without it. Lol. ❤️

  • These look so good right now! I’ve been thinking about getting a mandolin slicer since I’m so prone to cutting myself while cooking! Awesome job 🙂

    • Awesome! The Mandoline slicer has also really increased the speed at which I am able to prepare my food, it has opened the world to very thinly sliced foods for a variety of different meals. Not to mention you can make baked chips out of pretty much any fruit! so yummy! Stay tuned for a fruit recipe coming soon! P.S. Make sure you slice your food on the mandoline slicer using the hand guard! you wont cut yourself anymore!! (wink)

  • Oh these are going to be a huge hit in our home. Crispy fries are the bomb. I am checking out that Oxo Mandeline slicer, what a great deal on Amazon!

    • Awesome! Great to hear! Yes I think I bought my OXO Mandoline slicer for a lot more at Superstore years ago, and it has really held up! Besides the words on the sides kind of washing off from washing it so often… the blades are amazing! hope you love using one as much as we do!!

  • oh my gooood. these look so bomb. I don’t know if you’ve heard of Little Big Burger but these look like their fries haha. I’m for sure pinning this and making them this weekend!! I’ve been putting off getting a mandolin slicer because of how many people I’ve seen slice themselves, haha! Got any preventive tips for cutting my finger off? lol

    • lol! Love your comment Katie! I haven’t heard of Little Big Brother!! Where are they located? I need to go there and see if their fries compare to mine!! lol! So as forpreventing cutting off a finger!!! The mandoline slicer that I use comes with a guard that you stab into your food and then use that to feed the food through the slicer. Without the guard YES, you would for sure lose a finger right away! Please don’t do that!! I use the guard at all times. Even if the guard doesn’t allow you to slice the entire piece of food (sometimes happens with smaller food items) I wouldn’t risk trying to finish it off with your bare hand. If you need to… just cut the small bit up with a knife. I rarely have to do this though… the guard works great! Hope that helps! I have not come close to cutting my fingers off while using the guard and I have been using my mandoline slicer for years. Hope this helps! (wink) High five to keeping all your fingers!
