If you are looking for the perfect kids Easter craft then you have found it! What is more fun then Bunnifiying your own kiddos?!?! This cotton ball bunny craft is super easy, and the kiddos will love gluing cotton balls on their bunny bodies, not to mention the fun of painting the bottoms of their feet to make the cute bunny paws. I was inspired by this Little Bunny Craft that I found on Pinterest (sadly it doesn’t have a website attached to it, so I can’t give proper credit, but I fell in love with this little bunny idea, and had to recreate it). I also have to admit that we made this craft last Easter, but these cotton ball bunnies make a wonderful Easter keepsake decoration for years to come. You can look back at how small your baby bunnies once were. Look at Ivy’s little ice-cream covered bunny face!! I just love how they turned out! And you can make some cotton ball bunnies too!!
Cotton Ball Bunny Kids Craft Tutorial
MATERIALS NEEDED TO MAKE COTTON BALL BUNNIES
- Cotton Balls
- Photo of your child’s face (about 3 inch by 3 inch photo works)
- Cardboard backing (for sturdiness, I cut a bunny shape out of the side of a diaper box)
- Scissors
- White Craft Glue
- Paint
- Paint Brush
- Plain White Paper
METHOD TO MAKE COTTON BALL BUNNIES
Step 1: Find a photo of your cuties face that is about 3 inches by 3 inches. You can find a photo that you already have printed, or if you have a colour printer, you can find a digital photo of your child that you love, and resize their face to print out on your printer.
Step 2: Cut out a Bunny silhouette out of some sturdy cardboard. Dose not need to be perfect. This cardboard will hold your bunny upright, because all the cotton balls can make a paper backed bunny droopy. Cut your cardboard out like this…
Step 3: Make some super cute bunny feet by painting the bottoms for your kiddos feet, and getting them to step on a piece of plain white paper. Let dry.
Step 4: Paint the ears of the bunny. This will be the inside ear colour. Let dry!
Step 5: Now the fun part… Putting it all together!
- Glue your child face photo on the bunny’s head.
- Put a dollop of glue on a plate and let you kiddos dip the cotton balls in the glue, and then place on the bunnies body. (If your kiddos are young, like mine, I put the cotton balls around the ears and the face. Corbin got a little cotton ball glue crazy and put one on his photo face, which is why his nose looks a little red. That’s dry glue)
- Cut out your little bunny feet and glue them on top of the cotton balls at the bottom of their bunny bodies. Like this…
Step 6: Let dry! There may be a lot of glue under those cotton balls so make sure it is dry before you stand it up. Other wise you may have a melting looking cotton ball bunny. Wooomp wooooom
DONE!!
You can use your super awesome cotton ball bunnies as photo props in your DIY Easter photo shoot, like we did.
LOL.
I hope you are inspired by these cute cotton ball bunnies and make them with your own kiddos! Hey are fun and funny looking! They make smile!!
I wish that I could find my original cotton ball bunny inspiration photo’s website, so that I could link you properly and let them know that we loved their craft idea. If anyone has that original link, please share it with me and I’ll add that link to this post!
