I’ve been envious of super cute fall porch decor for years!! I always wished I had a stash of awesome beautiful faux pumpkins, a gorgeous large garland to go around our entryway, and baskets filled with beautiful blooming Mum flowers flowing down our front steps… But that stuff is pricey… And then after fall is over you have to store all of your amazing fall porch decorations somewhere. Who has the space for that?
So, this year to fulfill my cozy fall porch desires, I found a way to create a cute fall porch while staying on a budget, and that doesn’t take up too much room to store it after.
Here is born my easy DIY Dollar Store Fall Porch Decor. All I did was some simple improvements to some dollar store fall items, to reflect my own style, and just bring it to life! You can easily do it too!
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR DIY DOLLAR STORE FALL PORCH DECOR:
- Faux Pumpkins – In any color and shape that you can get your hands on. Every Dollar store sells them in the fall, but I linked some from Amazon too.
- White Acrylic Craft Paint and Paint Brush
- Fall Leaf Garland
- Faux Leaves
- Random Wood Crate – we already had at home
- Old Chair – dusted off from the basement
- Fall Wreath – DIY Tutorial HERE!
- Potted Flowers – I was lucky to receive these beautiful MUM flowers from a beautiful friend for my Birthday, and they worked perfectly into my fall porch decor! P.S. These flowers make an awesome fall gift idea!!
STEPS TO UPGRADE DOLLAR STORE FALL DECOR FOR FALL PORCH:
Step 1: Let’s beef up the Fall Garland! So I bought this simple fall garland with leaves and orange berries from Dollarama (the garland on the left in the photo below), but I wanted it to be a bit beefier for my fall porch decor. To accomplish this I bought the thanksgiving leaves that come with a wire stem. I needed 3 packs of leaves for each section of garland. All you do is twist the wire stem of each leaf around the garland and WA LA!! Beefed up Fall garland! Like this…
Step 2: White wash your faux pumpkins! This is such an easy way to make those bright shiny orange dollar store pumpkins fit into your beautiful fall decor.
All you do is take a medium sized dry paintbrush, with a small amount of dollar store acrylic craft paint, and brush it on your faux pumpkins! You can do a couple layers to make them completely white, or do as I did and do one light layer of paint, so that you can see a hint of the orange through the paint. I love how they turned out!
Step 3: Add a cute DIY fall wreath to your door. I made this one out of some inexpensive Walmart and dollar store items, and some tall dried grass from our yard. You can find the Simple Fall Wreath Tutorial HERE!
Step 4: Add some personal touches. Find items you already own. Like this old chair that was in our basement collecting dust, and an old wooden crate to place some pumpkins on. Just to give the fall decor a little bit of height. I was also gifted this beautiful potted Mum flowers, which goes perfectly with the fall colors on this fall porch. I love it!
Step 5: Layer your door mat, because that’s what all the cool kids are doing these days. I looked for an inexpensive mat to go under my current “Home Sweet Home” door mat, but couldn’t find one that I looooved on a budget… So I took the bath mat from my kids bathroom, flipped it face down, and layered it under my door mat. TA DA!! I know… genius! It will do for now… Wink! Maybe I’ll find a way to DIY a layered mat of my dreams next year.
I hope you feel inspired to add a little touch of fall decor on a budget to your own porch this fall season. You don’t need to spend a fortune on beautiful fall decor to achieve a cute and cozy fall porch. By finding ways to improve Dollarstore fall decor, you can create a little cozy fall porch all your own! I’d love to see what you guys come up with! I too am always trying to think up new ways to decorate on a budget!
Until next time, enjoy creating a cozy fall porch on a budget, and creating beautiful things everyday!
