DIY Thanksgiving Table Place Cards Made by the Kiddos

There is always something to be grateful for! This thanksgiving I am grateful for the health of my family, grateful that we have some of our family close by so that we can share our lives together, and for Shawnikins and everything that he does for our family (he does so much). Oh, and I’m grateful for my beautiful smart kiddos making the Thanksgiving Table Place Cards this year, so I could focus on the delicious Turkey dinner! Wink!

DIY Thanksgiving Kids Table Place Cards

Thanksgiving dinner may look a little different this year. I mean, instead of pushing all the tables that we own together, to make a huge table for all of our friends and family to sit around… this year we are keeping it small and celebrating what we are thankful for with my lovely parents (Papa and Grandy to my kiddos).

We also kept the table settings super simple with a white linin table cloth and grey linin placemats. Small dollar store pumpkins (that were originally gold and I white washed painted them) lined the center of the table, and the kids added a splash of color with their DIY handprint and thumbprint turkey place cards. I think they turned out so cute!

STEPS TO MAKE TURKEY HANDPRINT TABLE PLACE CARDS:

Step 1: Cut your cardstock paper in half. You will only need half of a piece of cardstock paper to make one place card.

Step 2: Paint your kiddos palm of their hand. We did the fingers yellow and the palm and thumb orange. Then stamp their hand close to the top of the page (Ivy didn’t put her handprint high enough). You want to leave some paper white at the bottom left to fold over and to help it to stand up. We ended up taping an extra piece of paper to the bottom after to make it stand up.

Step 3: Paint on some little beady eyes, a beak, and the turkey gobble gobble thingy… Oh, and some cute turkey legs too!

Step 4: Cut out your Turkey Handprint like this, hopefully you have more white paper at the bottom than we did… Since we didn’t have much white paper at the bottom to fold over to help it to stand up, we just taped on an extra piece of cardstock to the bottom and folded it over to make it stand up!

STEPS TO MAKE A THUMBPRINT TURKEY TABLE PLACE CARD:

Step 1: Place one kids brown thumbprint in the center, to make the turkeys body.

Step 2: Stamp a row of red thumbprints to make the first layer of feathers. Then add a row of orange thumbprints, followed by a row of yellow thumbprints to finish off the turkeys feathers.

Step 3: Paint on a sweet little beak, eyes, and turkey gobbler (what’s it called anyways??)…

Step 4: Paint each persons name on each of your DIY Thanksgiving Table place cards. We painted the names with gold acrylic paint.

Step 5: Cut out your thumbprint turkey with a strip of white cardstock paper on the bottom, Like this…

Step 6: Then just fold the tab at the bottom back, and place something with weight to it, on the tab to make sure it doesn’t fall over. We used some little white pumpkins that I picked up from the Superstore! And DONE!
