What is a kids summer without FREEZIES??
That yummy delicious frozen tube of sugar juice, that is hard for the little kids to push up, so that their little mouths can suck the sharp edges of plastic, causing little cuts in the corners of their months…
That sticky juice that runs down the kids chins, then onto their clothes, and then on the floor, making a sweet sticky mess… as they try to consume every last drip, and the most magical part… is that those delicious Freezies freeze their poor little hands off! But man… is it all worth it!! It’s what summer memories are made of… until now…
Introducing the DIY Freezie Cozy!!
Making kids smile, for the few minutes it takes to consume that sweet sweet Freezie! And here is how you can make one too! Or 20… and spread the love by giving them in your kiddos Birthday Goody Bags! Like we did at Corbin’s Popsicle Obstacle Course 5th Birthday Party! Check it out!
FREEZIE COZY SEWING TUTORIAL
MATERIALS NEEDED:
- Fleece Fabric for the inside lining (you could use any thicker fabric)
- Cute printed cotton fabric for the outside
- Sewing machine (could be done by hand if you don’t have a sewing machine!)
- Coordinating thread
- Ruler
- Rotary cutter or Scissors
METHOD:
Step 1: Measure and cut out 5 inch by 5 inch square pieces of your fabric. Cut one out of your thicker fabric and one for the outside fabric. Like this… (Note: I was making 2 Freezie cozies in this photo… one for each of my kiddos that have very typical boy and girl freezie cozies desires.)
Step 2: With front and back fabrics face to face… sew one side closed.
Step 3: Fold right way out…
Fold in half with the inside fabric on the outside…
And sew around the un-sewn edges (not the top edge that you already finished)
Like this!
Step 4: Trim the corner to allow for a nicer finished corner.
Step 5: Flip the right way out and ENJOY warm hands while slurping on a deliciously sweet frozen Freezie!
Then make a ton more for all your friends!
Having warm hands while eating Freezies makes the kids love each other!! If you have kids that seem to fight all day… you should try it too! WINK!
