I grew up on love and Frozen Banana Pops! The banana pops of my time may have just been a frozen banana wrapped in a cloth so our hands wouldn’t freeze off, but these frozen banana pops have been upgraded, and modernized! Frozen banana pops with Greek vanilla yogurt and SPRINKLES!!! What kid would say no to this sweet treat? Plus I kind of upgraded the popsicle stick too! So much fun on a warm spring day! Or pretty much anytime of the year, or time of the day…
HOW TO MAKE THESE MODERNIZED FROZEN BANANA POPS
INGREDIENTS NEEDED:
- BANANAS
- Vanilla Greek Yogurt
- SPRINKLES and more SPRINKLES!
- Some kind of stick to stick them on!
METHOD TO MAKE MODERNIZED FROZEN BANANA POPS
Step 1: Cut Your Bananas in half and stick them on the pop stick of your choice. (I use some left over sticks that I had made for Ivy’s 2nd Birthday Party)
LITTLE POP STICK TUTORIAL:
- Use a heart-shaped hole punch to cut out the hearts out of cardstock.
- Hot glue your hearts onto the end of some wooden skewers.
- DONE!
Step 2: Cover your banana in Vanilla Greek Yogurt. I found it the easiest to spread the yogurt on the banana with a knife, as the yogurt was kind of too think to dip the banana through, while keeping it on the skewer. Trust me… just spread it… don’t dip it!
Step 3: Dip in sprinkles, or sprinkle the sprinkles onto your banana covered in greek yogurt. both methods have their cons… Dipping in sprinkles could transfer the yogurt into your sprinkles (wasting more sprinkles than you needed too), Sprinkling the sprinkles on could cause the sprinkles that miss the yogurt covered banana to bounce all over the place, onto the floor, EVERYWHERE! It took my kids seconds to find sprinkles on the floor when they came home from the park. SECONDS… and then eating them off the floor happened… and is still happening! So many sprinkles!!
Step 4: Place the bananas covered in yogurt and sprinkles onto something flat, and put them into the freezer for a least 2 hours to freeze all the way through.
Step 5: Make your kids take photos with the frozen banana pops before you let them eat them!! Lol. They are so good to me… Sometimes…
Enjoy!
I hope this fun healthy kids snack idea inspires you make snacking fun for your own kiddos! Lately my kiddos have enjoyed a frozen banana pop after Ivy’s nap. They snack on one as they play in the backyard, and I stress about what to make for the next meal of the day… dinner… always a struggle. Maybe I should find a way to make frozen banana pops a whole meal idea… like those Caesar drinks with olives, pickles, beans, and a slider all on a skewer… hmmmmm ideas ideas….
Until next time, enjoy snaking, and creating beautiful things everyday!
