Christmas Traditions!! What are your favorite? One that my kiddos love doing is making Handprint and Footprint Ornaments… I love them… but at what age do we stop doing this tradition?!?! I don’t really want a tree full of hand prints. Lol… They love pressing their little hands and feet into some good baking soda dough, letting it dry, and then testing to see if their hand still fits. I however have artistic control issues with the decorating of them. I like to make their little handprint or footprint into some sort of Christmas display. Check out our hand prints from last year here… and 2 years ago here!
This year I asked the kids what they wanted painted on their hand and foot ornaments. Have a look-see what they requested, and what I came up with!!
WARNING: I’m not a professional painter. Lol…
Ivy asked for a chimney, and an angel. And this is what my paint brush came up with. I though her idea or a chimney was very original. I added her stockings, toe presents, and Santa’s boots coming down the chimney!
Ivy is also very big into angels right now. We talk about how her angels keep her safe while she sleeps, and she has never had issue sleeping by herself (her brother on the other hand…).
She calls her Baby Angel… Babies are life right now…
Corbin requested Santa’s Sleigh, and a Bear. I improvised and made his handprint into a Santa Bear.
Santa’s Sleigh is equipped with a jet propulsion, lots of leg room for his long journey, and his sack of toys.
And lastly The Santa Bear. Lol…
I hope you find inspiration to either start this tradition with your own kiddos, or try out these handprint or footprint painting ideas! We have lots of fun making them each year. And looking back at how small their hands and feet once were is so cute!… and depressing… I wish time could stand still. They are growing up so fast.
Until next time, enjoy making memories, and creating beautiful things everyday!
