This week I made the kiddos a very easy Fire Fighter Themed Lunch, because why not?!?! Kids get excited about the small things (which is so awesome), even when it’s just a couple adjustments to how you present a meal. I’m hoping that this will inspire you to make an every day kids meal just a bit more fun too!
So the inspiration for the Fire Fighter Themed Lunch came from the fact that Halloween has attacked the stores ALREADY?!?! Isn’t it summer still? Well Corbin sure noticed the costumes at Costco this week and we couldn’t leave the store without picking up this seriously cute and ever-so-realistic Fire Fighter costume or as Corbin calls it his “fire worker clothes!” So cute!
Corbin has really been into superheroes lately, and I was not looking forward to him wanting to go trick-or-treating as Spider-Man or Batman this year. I’m so glad instead he decided on a real superhero… A Fire Fighter! Last year he was a super cute Police Officer, so he’s keeping the tradition alive again this year. And now Ivy can be the Police Officer, at home at least. I think she is planning on being a Unicorn for Halloween or as she calls it ” A Corn”. hehe, Love her!
So ever since we brought home the Fire Fighter costume, Corbin has been living in it. He is in loooooove with it! So I tried to make the day a little more special by creating a special Fire Fighter Themed Lunch. The idea in my head was a little better than how it actually turned out, but the kiddos loved it, and that’s all that’s matters right?!?!
Before lunch we worked up an appetite by playing dancing Cops and Fire Fighters in the backyard…
And we snacked on our Basil and Mint plants.
Then we came inside for lunch time! Sooooo hungry
So… My Kids Fire Fighter Themed Lunch idea! haha… All that I did to create this “super realistic grilled cheese burning building” is cut the grilled cheese into the shapes of buildings and squirted ketchup as the flames coming out of the top (is this child appropriate????). Then I sliced strawberries to kind of resemble flames too, and put them on the side. Yum Yum!
Not on my diet though! I held strong and didn’t even eat their cheesy-oozy-crusts! This is a huge problem in the weight loss game when you have kids… The biggest problem for me is trying not to eat their left overs! Because kids are the biggest food wasters EVER!! Hold strong mamas. You can resist it!!
Two thumbs up from this guy!
And Ivy added her own ingredient to her Fire Fighter Themed Lunch… Sue-sues!! oh Ivy…
So I hope that this post inspires you to make a simple everyday lunch just a tad bit more special. It’s very easy to do. It just takes a little bit of thought and love.
I was thinking that this lunch would have been even more yummy if I had made the grilled cheese “burning buildings” out of my homemade bread! It’s so easy and the best homemade bread ever! If you want to learn how to make it too check out this post called Super Amazing Easiest Bread Recipe Ever!
Until next time, enjoy your kiddos, eat fun foods, and create beautiful things!
