DIY Flower Wreath – How to Make Beautiful Egg Carton Flowers!

DIY Flower Wreath - Egg Carton Flower Tutorial

A DIY Flower Wreath is just want the doctor ordered to make your home just a little more cheery. It’s easy, fun, and a great way to get creative with your kiddos. But this time we are going to find a way to make our own flowers!

Finding ways to make something out of nothing is the new way of crafting in 2020… #covidcrafts. At our house we have loved finding ways to use things around our house to get creative with, and I’m loving seeing what the kiddos brains come up with!

We were inspired to get creative when we read the cute kids book “Something from Nothing” by Phoebe Gilman. It’s a super cute book that inspires creativity by sewing the same piece of fabric, over and over again, into different things! Totally my crafting jam!!

So after reading this book and with our DIY Flower Wreath on the brain, I let the kids decide what they wanted to get creative with, and after rummaging through the recycling bin they decided they wanted to make flowers out of a cardboard egg carton! So… Lets get to it!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

EGG CARTON FLOWERS:

  • Scissors
  • Paint in beautiful flower colors (Dollar Store Paint)
  • Paint Brushes

FLOWER WREATH:

  • Egg Carton FLOWERS!!!

METHOD TO MAKE A DIY FLOWER WREATH:

STEP 1: Cut your cardboard egg carton into little flowers. Cut each individual egg container slot out. Then use the center bottom of each individual egg slot as the center of the flower, and the sides of each egg slot as the petals of the flowers. You can get creative with the shape of your petals, or even layer a couple of them to create flowers with more petals!

STEP 2: Get your kiddos to paint them all the colors of the rainbow, or HINT: give them colors that look good when mixed together, otherwise your beautiful cardboard egg carton flowers could turn out all brown…

STEP 3: Hot Glue all of your super cute egg carton flowers onto a wreath form. We mixed in some dried reindeer moss too, to give the DIY Flower Wreath a little bit of a fresh green spring vibe.
