Let’s just take a moment to be thankful that spiders don’t fly!! Imagine!! Just witnessing their creepy legs crawling around is bad enough! Spiders are CREEEEEEPPPPYYYY!! So, guess what Ivy wanted to make for her class Halloween party treat last year (yes this treat is a year old), Chocolate covered Apple Spiders!! FUN!!
This year we can no longer make homemade goodies for the kiddos class parties, just prepackaged goodies are flying this year, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make these super yummy, semi-healthy spider treats for your own kiddos or for a fun Halloween playdate!

SUPPLIES NEEDED TO MAKE CHOCOLATE COVERED APPLE SPIDERS:
- Apples – sliced thick
- Chocolate Chips or Candy Melts – We used red candy melts, and regular milk chocolate chips.
- Mini Marshmallows
- Candy Corn
- Black Gel Icing
- Popsicle Sticks
STEPS TO MAKE CHOCOLATE COVERED APPLE SPIDER TREATS:
Step #1: Slice apples, and shove a popsicle stick in the side. You can cut a little slit in the side of the apple to make shoving it in easier.
Step #2: Melt the Chocolate. I find the easiest way to do this is to microwave the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl for 30 second increments. It usually only takes 1 minute in total to make the chocolate yummy and gooey (ready for spreading on the apples).
Step #3: Spread or dip your apple slices into the chocolate. I found spreading it to be easier. And yummier to lick off the spoon after too!
Step #4: While the chocolate is still not dried, add the candy corn spider legs.
Step #5: Then add the Mini Marshmallows for the eyes, and finally a little dot of black gel icing to finish the eye off!
Step #6: Feed these creepy crawly Apple Spiders to all the kiddos! YUM!!
This is Ivy trying really hard not to eat her Chocolate Covered Apple Spider. The kids “I want a treat, so I’m trying really hard to be good” faces are so funny and cute.
I hope this healthy-ish Halloween treat idea inspires you to make something yummy for your own kiddos this Halloween, or maybe for yourself too!!
