Have a craving for mint chocolate, but you don’t have any premade mint chocolate, however, you do have chocolate chips and peppermint extract?? Lol… Make yourself some yummy mint chocolate pops, in any shape mold that you have around the house. We just happen to have a pumpkin ice-cube tray, that did the trick nicely, especially since Halloween is coming up!! Enjoy!!
You may notice that we currently have a bit of a spider infestation at our house. They could smell the yummy mint chocolate treat pops, and couldn’t help but want a taste for themselves. Who could blame them?!?! I made these beaded spiders last year for Halloween, and they have lived in our house ever since. If you are interested, you can check out the beginning of their lives here!
INGREDIENTS NEEDED:
- Chocolate: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or white chocolate, or a mixture or them all (in any form that will melt)
- Peppermint Extract
EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
- Microwave or something else to melt the chocolate
- Spoons
- Tooth Pick
- Treat Sticks
- Candy Mold or fun shaped Ice cube Tray (I used this Pumpkin Ice cube tray)
METHOD:
Step 1: Pour each of your chocolate melts in different microwave safe bowls
Step 2: Melt chocolates by microwaving each bowl of chocolate in 30 second increments, stirring in between, until completely melted. I only needed to 60 seconds to melt each bowl of chocolate.
Step 3: Place 5 drops of peppermint extract in each melted chocolate bowl.
NOTE: Don’t put more 5 drops of the extract because it will make the chocolate clump up, and do something funky. Not good for chocolate moulds, but still tasty!
Step 4: Spoon the different coloured chocolates into the molds, and mix them around with a tooth pick to blend the colours. Then tap the mold down on the counter a bit to remove any bubbles.
Step 5: Place treat sticks into the backs of the mint chocolate treat pops.
Step 6: Place in the fridge for 10 minutes to solidify the chocolate.
Step 7: Pop out your mint chocolate treat pops and ENJOY!!
You can get imaginative with the colours of chocolate you use, and I would suggest swirling the chocolate around a bit more than you would consider enough. Lol… because mine didn’t come out as swirly as I had imagined. Just go wild!
I hope this inspires you to find simple ways to make special treats from supplies you may already have in the pantry. You could make these for a party, as Ivy has suggested “These are for my Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Party” plenty of times, since these treats appeared in the kitchen. We will see if they last that long. Lol… Highly doubt it!!
Until next time, enjoy your yummy mint chocolate treat pops, and have fun creating beautiful things everyday!
XO JCL
