Do you have themed parties for your kids birthdays? How do you decide what theme to choose?
The way we choose is quite simple… I ask my kiddos what kind of party they want, then they say something crazy, and then I try to bring their idea to life. So guess what Corbin requested this year?!?! He said “How about an Obstacle Course party but we get to eat Popsicles?!?!”… DONE!! And that is how a Popsicle Obstacle Course Party was born!!
POPSICLE OBSTACLE COURSE KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTY
THE POPSICLE OBSTACLE COURSE:
Welcome to the Obstacle course! We made 10 different stations for the kids to obstacle through, and we marked them with some DIY numbered Popsicle signs.
To make the Popsicle signs (which indicated the next obstacle) we cut some popsicle shapes out of card stalk paper, painted them with water colors, and hot glued them to some large craft popsicle sticks. Then we wrote a number on them, and stuck them in the ground! WALA!
Obstacle #1:
Kiddy slide…
Obstacle #2:
Kiddy tunnel…
Obstacle #3:
DIY Balance beams…
Obstacle #4:
Pool noodle tunnel… (it’s held in place with dollar store camping pegs)
Obstacle #5:
Climb through the windows of a kids play house… (Corbin came up with this one)…
Obstacle #6:
Dribble a soccer ball around the cones and shoot it in the net…
Obstacle #7:
Jump through hoops…
Obstacle #8:
NERF gun target shoot… Tutorial to make your own Target Practice found HERE!
Obstacle #9:
Sand table filled with rice and tiny toy Popsicles (find a popsicle in the rice)…
Obstacle #10
Bum drop on the Trampoline!

POPSICLE BIRTHDAY CAKE
This year Corbin was expose to the wonder of ice cream cakes at a few of his buddies birthday parties… so of course he requested a Obstacle Popsicle Birthday Cake for his own Birthday too. So that was easy except that Dairy Queen did not have such an image in their handy dandy cake book.
TIP: Did you know that you can request a picture of anything and they will look it up on the internet and print it on a cake for you. Any image on the internet can be printed!! I requested “Popsicles” and I think they did an awesome job!

I hope you enjoyed our little 5 year old’s Popsicle Obstacle Birthday Party! We had a blast putting it together and watching all the kiddos race through it, even though Corbin didn’t win the obstacle race for quickest time… (which Corbin was afraid of for weeks before his party). All the kids got Gold Metals for completing our fun Popsicle Obstacle course so Corbin quickly forgot about his need to be the fastest. Silly boy!
If you are looking for inspiration for your own Popsicle Obstacle Course Party, use kids play stuff that they already own for inspiration… or even ask your kids what they would use as an obstacle course. I wouldn’t have thought to climb through the windows of the kids playhouse, but it was very obvious to Corbin that it would be awesome.
If you are looking for more inspiration, these are some of the fun links I found helpful in putting together an Obstacle Course Party, then we just added our popsicle theme to it.
